BOOK A READING

why might we consider an in-depth reading valuable?

we’re all radios. the signals i pick up on are determined by my natal chart, my frequency. the stations available this year could be very different from last year, or they may even echo the stations of 18 years ago. there is a reason for that, and understanding it can help us to piece together our personal narrative. greater awareness contributes to a deeper and more enriched life, both personally and relationally, at home and in the world. we’re focused on understanding, framing and trusting the self and its path in such a way that we may be of greater service to our selves, families and communities.

from an astrological POV, our growth over time occurs in two ways: transits and progressions. the natal chart is you at birth / the fixed terrain, transits are the weather that impacts it and progressions are the vegetation that develops. we generally understand transits as coming from OUTSIDE and progressions from INSIDE. when we are impacted by an eclipse, a saturn return or an aspect from an evolutionary, that’s a transit. when we are working on the more subtle level of emerging, evolving and shifting personality traits, which are encoded in the DNA of the chart and work in a time-release manner, that’s progression.

when we consider a solar return chart, we’re looking at the canvas that the transits will play out on for that birthday year. we often look at the years prior and ahead simultaneously, and always relate them back to the natal chart as well. transits tell us about the chapters of life. when this begins, what kinds of things might i expect and aim for? when this ends, what is the lesson to be integrated? while this is happening, what are some helpful points of focus and release? how might i time my monthly and yearly goals so that i can best tap the gifts and honour the lessons of this current chapter? the more we understand the nature of the chapters, the more agency we have in the writing of them. astrology is not a tool for predicting concrete events, it is a tool for co-creating them. it is vital to remember that everything is a polarity, and two ends of experience are always available with every aspect, transit or progression. the best way to get on the positive current of the polarity is with a dedicated or routine spiritual practice.

just glancing at the progressed moon can give us a mountain of information about where a person is currently at and what to expect. the moon normally changes signs every 2.5 days, and since a day represents a year in the mechanics of progressions, we are working with the themes of our progressed moon sign for 2.5 years. the emotional landscape of a cancer progressed moon will feel remarkably different after it changes to leo, even moreso if it comes into contact with a natal planet or an angle. a conjunction from the progressed moon, or another progressed planet, to the natal chart is highly significant — and knowing can help to shed light on why you might be feeling x type of way when there aren’t any obvious transits that seem to be impacting you in x way. they represent an activating force and an invitation to integrate the lessons of that natal planet. that can feel intense, and the context a reading can provide can prove empowering, putting you more in a driver’s seat state of being.

we cannot hope to meaningfully grasp predictive astrology, or to be able to forecast helpfully, without a thorough understanding of the natal chart. when working with me, all initial sessions are natal-focused. our first session together enables us to get a handle on your astrological frequency, and means we can both start from the same page. from there, we can begin to go deeper into the more dynamic and often very fun side of astrology — delineating themes in your past, current and near-future fields of awareness — all things we’d cover in a 90 or 60 minute follow-up, as regularly as you see fit!
